FAQ β€” Pooper Scooper Service NJ | Dog Poop Happens
Everything You Need to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about our pet waste removal service in Bergen & Passaic County, NJ. Don’t see yours? Call us at (201) 834-4551.

πŸ’° Pricing
How much does pooper scooper service cost in NJ?

Pricing is customized based on your yard size, number of dogs, and service frequency β€” so there’s no single number that applies to everyone. The fastest way to get your exact price is our free online quote: enter your address and number of dogs and you’ll have a real price in under 60 seconds. Get your free quote β†’

Why don’t you list exact prices on your website?

Because a small urban lot with one small dog costs very different from a large property with four dogs. Listing a single price would either mislead some customers or unfairly overcharge others. Our free quote takes 60 seconds and gives you the real number for your specific situation β€” no phone call, no commitment.

What is the Initial Cleanup and why does it cost more?

Your very first visit β€” the Initial Cleanup β€” is priced higher than recurring visits because we’re clearing all accumulated waste in one session. Depending on how long the yard has gone without professional cleanup, this can take significantly longer than a standard maintenance visit. After your Initial Cleanup, every subsequent visit is billed at your regular plan rate.

Do you charge more for multiple dogs?

Yes. More dogs means more waste per visit and more time required. Each additional dog increases the visit price fairly to reflect the actual work involved. Your free quote automatically accounts for your number of dogs.

Are there any hidden fees or extra charges?

No. Your quote is your price. No fuel surcharges, no seasonal fees, no surprise add-ons. The only extras are optional add-on services (Wysiwash, Wondercide, Haul-Away) that you choose yourself at signup β€” and none of them are required.

πŸ“… Service Plans
What service plans do you offer?

We offer five plans: Weekly (most popular), Twice-Weekly (for 3+ dog homes), Bi-Weekly (every two weeks), Monthly (one deep clean per month), and One-Time Cleanup (no subscription needed). All plans include the same standard features β€” gate photo, text confirmation, sanitized equipment, and eco-friendly disposal.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No contracts β€” ever. This is one of the things our customers love most. You can cancel, pause, upgrade, or downgrade your plan at any time with no fees and no questions asked. Manage everything through your Client Portal or by calling us.

Which plan do you recommend?

Weekly service is our most popular plan and what we recommend for most households. It keeps waste from accumulating, protects your lawn from damage, and is the most cost-effective plan per visit. For households with three or more dogs, Twice-Weekly is worth considering. For single-dog homes on a tighter budget, Bi-Weekly works well.

Can I change my plan after I sign up?

Yes β€” anytime. Upgrade, downgrade, or add/remove services whenever you want through your Client Portal or by calling us at (201) 834-4551. Changes typically take effect on your next scheduled visit.

Can I pause my service when I travel?

Absolutely. Just log in to your Client Portal or give us a call and we’ll pause your service for however long you need. No fees, no issues. Resume when you’re back.

πŸ“Έ How Visits Work
Do I need to be home when you come?

No β€” you just need to provide gate access. We’ll let ourselves in, do a thorough sweep of your yard, close and lock your gate, and send you a photo of the locked gate plus a text confirmation. You’ll know service is done and your gate is secured before you let your dog out.

What exactly happens during a visit?

Our technician does a systematic sweep of your entire yard β€” not just the obvious spots. All waste is double-bagged in eco-friendly bags and disposed of properly (or hauled away if you’ve added that service). After completing the yard, we close and lock your gate, take a photo, and send you a text notification with the photo attached.

How long does a visit take?

Most residential visits take 10–20 minutes depending on yard size and number of dogs. Your first Initial Cleanup may take longer depending on how much accumulated waste needs to be cleared.

Do you work in rain, snow, or cold weather?

Yes β€” year-round, all-weather service. We operate in all NJ weather conditions. Rain, snow, cold, heat β€” your yard gets cleaned on your scheduled day no matter what. This is especially valuable in winter, when it’s easy to let things go and then face a major cleanup in spring.

What if I’m not happy with a visit?

Contact us within 24 hours and we’ll come back and re-do it at no charge. 100% satisfaction guarantee. No questions asked. We’re a locally owned small business and our reputation matters to us more than anything.

Is your equipment sanitized between properties?

Yes β€” this is standard protocol, not an upgrade. We disinfect all tools and footwear before entering each new property to prevent cross-contamination. This is especially important for preventing the spread of Parvovirus and other pathogens between yards.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Service Areas
What towns do you serve?

We serve 65+ communities across Bergen County (Hackensack, Paramus, Teaneck, Englewood, Fort Lee, Ridgewood, Fair Lawn, Bergenfield, Dumont, Oradell, River Edge, Tenafly, Wyckoff, and many more) and Passaic County (Clifton, Wayne, Hawthorne, Little Falls, Totowa, Passaic, Woodland Park, Pompton Lakes, Prospect Park, and more). View the full list β†’

Do you serve my town if it’s not on your list?

Possibly β€” we’re always expanding. Contact us at (201) 834-4551 or through our contact form and we’ll let you know if we can add your area. New routes are added regularly.

How far do you travel for service?

We currently focus on Bergen and Passaic County, NJ β€” the communities we know best and can serve most reliably. We’re based in Bergenfield and know Northern NJ well.

βž• Add-On Services
What is Wysiwash and do I need it?

Wysiwash is a hospital-grade, EPA-registered lawn sanitization and deodorizing treatment. It kills Parvovirus (which survives in NJ soil for up to 6 months), E. Coli, Salmonella, Giardia, Roundworm eggs, and 99.9% of other pathogens β€” and it deodorizes your yard at the source. It’s completely safe for pets and kids after application. We especially recommend it for households with puppies, young children, or immunocompromised family members, and as a follow-up to any initial cleanup. Learn more β†’

What is Wondercide and how is it different from Wysiwash?

These two services do completely different things. Wondercide is a plant-based cedar oil spray that kills and repels fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, ants, and 100+ other pests β€” it’s an insect treatment. Wysiwash is a pathogen-elimination and deodorizing treatment for bacteria, viruses, and parasites left in the soil from dog waste. Many customers use both. Learn more about Wondercide β†’

What is the Haul-Away add-on?

With Haul-Away, we take all bagged waste completely off your property rather than leaving it in your outdoor trash. It’s double-bagged, sealed, and gone β€” keeping your yard and trash area clean and fresh.

Can I add these services later if I don’t want them now?

Yes β€” add or remove any service at any time through your Client Portal or by calling us. No commitment required for any add-on.

πŸ”‘ Account & Billing
How do I manage my account?

Everything is handled through your Client Portal. Update billing, change your schedule, add or remove services, view past visits, and message us β€” all in one place.

How do I cancel?

Log in to your Client Portal and cancel anytime β€” no fees, no waiting period, no required explanation. Or call us at (201) 834-4551 and we’ll take care of it immediately.

How does billing work?

Billing is handled securely through our Client Portal. You’ll be charged per visit or on a recurring schedule depending on your plan. Payment information is stored securely by our platform β€” we never see your full card details.

When will my first visit be scheduled?

Most new customers are scheduled within the same week of signing up. You’ll receive confirmation of your first visit date after completing your quote and signup.

🦠 Health & Safety
Is dog waste really a health hazard?

Yes β€” more than most people realize. A single gram of dog waste contains approximately 23 million fecal bacteria. The EPA classifies dog waste as a non-point source pollutant. Parvovirus can survive in NJ yard soil for up to 6 months, roundworm eggs can persist for 2–3 years, and pathogens like E. Coli and Giardia can cause serious illness in both pets and people. Read more about the health risks β†’

Are your treatments safe for my pets and kids?

Yes. Both Wysiwash and Wondercide are safe for pets and children after application β€” there’s no re-entry waiting period required. Wondercide is made from plant-based cedar oil with no synthetic chemicals. Wysiwash is biodegradable and EPA-registered.

Does Wondercide harm bees or beneficial insects?

No. Wondercide’s cedar oil formula targets the octopamine receptors found in pest insects (fleas, ticks, mosquitoes), but does not affect bees, butterflies, or other beneficial pollinators. It’s safe to apply around garden areas.

🏒 Commercial Services
Do you serve commercial properties?

Yes β€” we serve HOAs, condo associations, apartment complexes, dog parks, office parks, retail properties, and golf courses throughout Bergen and Passaic County. Learn more about commercial services β†’

Do commercial clients need long-term contracts?

No. Like our residential service, commercial clients are on month-to-month agreements with no long-term commitments required. We include a free site survey for all commercial properties before quoting.

How do I get a commercial quote?

Fill out our commercial quote form or call us directly at (201) 834-4551. We’ll schedule a free site visit and provide a custom quote for your property.
